The Sultan of Brunei, His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah of Brunei Darussalam, made a visit to Singapore
Airshow 2012 today. Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen received His Majesty, who
is also the Defence Minister, at the Changi Exhibition Centre and accompanied
him on a tour of the exhibits at the Airshow. Dr Ng also hosted His Majesty to
lunch, where they viewed the aerial display. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for
Defence and National Development Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman and Chief of Defence
Force Lieutenant-General Neo Kian Hong were also present at the lunch.
Singapore and Brunei enjoy a long history of close friendship and
cooperation. His Majesty's visit to Singapore underscores the excellent defence
ties between Singapore and Brunei, which is an important pillar of our bilateral
relationship. As part of his visit to Singapore, His Majesty will be meeting
with President Tony Tan and Mr Lee Kuan Yew later today at the Istana, and will
also be hosted to dinner by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
